Screaming Eagles Get Road Win, 6-4
|
Fans who gathered at Loony Bin saw a good contest between the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and Minnesota Loons.
Minnesota designated hitter Milojica Kordic had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Kordic went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs, even as Mercer Island beat the Loons, 6-4. Kordic was named the player of the game despite the loss. Picking up the save was Unto Leino, his 2nd.
The Screaming Eagles got a big at-bat from right fielder Dave Broom. For the game, Broom was 2-5 with 2 singles. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 5th hit of the season gave Mercer Island a 4-3 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Broom. "And not try to do too much."
With the loss, Minnesota is 1-7.
