Shooters Jolt Loons with Late Rally
|
The Minnesota Loons got a superb performance from pitcher Martyn Drdio, but the Springfield Shooters still won the game, 3-2. Drdio was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball. Springfield, now 4-1, has played well in the early going.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Manny Diéguez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Minnesota pitcher Ainanani Oliwa, he hit a full count sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Springfield on top, 3-2.
Diéguez called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
