Toikka Goes Off, But Screaming Eagles Win
The Lake Minnetonka Love Boats got a superb performance from first baseman Arto Toikka, but the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles still won the game, 10-8. Toikka was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 4-5 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Mercer Island reliever Unto Leino picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Roberto Maldonado was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Jules Goux, his 1st.

In the bottom of the third, Mercer Island center fielder Serious Lee had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Lee stroked a 2-run single to right-center. It made the score 10-3, Mercer Island. For the game, he went 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Screaming Eagles manager Omer van Osch. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

The win takes Mercer Island to 1-3.
