Disaster Win in Extras
|
The Port Royal Disaster topped the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 8-2, in USPL Triple A action at Crane Field. The player of the game was Port Royal pitcher and Chicago, Illinois native Jerry Kumpf. Reliever Marcos Oquendo picked up the win. His record improves to 5-3. Ieyoshi Asai took the loss. The 5th-place Disaster improved to 53-45.
Port Royal used the timely hitting of Michael Brannon to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Disaster ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Brannon said.
