Longnecks Win at Port Royal, 7-2
|
The Bloomington Longnecks got a stellar performance from pitcher John Walton, who handcuffed the Port Royal offense en route to a 7-2 win at Ballpark of Port Royal. Mark Zaugg earned the save for Bloomington, his 4th of the year. The Longnecks saw their record improve to 36-48.
The result might have been different for Bloomington, had it not been for Tony Martínez. The shortstop produced a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Longnecks ahead, 2-0. For the game, Martínez had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We looked pretty good up and down," said Bloomington manager Coy Knight.
