The Brinkley Belugas and Bakersfield Nobles played an exciting game at Jerome Grounds.
The Brinkley Belugas got a stellar performance from pitcher De John Cleland, who handcuffed the Bakersfield offense en route to a 4-2 win at Jerome Grounds. Cleland got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Cleland allowed no earned runs. Ewan Atwood closed the door for Brinkley, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Brinkley relied on the hitting of Craig Beach to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Belugas on top, 3-1. For the game, Beach had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Cleland, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Brinkley is now 30-18, Bakersfield 29-19.
