Longnecks Pin 8-3 Loss on Golden Cranes
|
The Bloomington Longnecks defeated the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 8-3. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Sébastien Bernard, who went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. John Walton earned the win to go to 2-2. He allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and no strikeouts. Getting the save was Dennis Bly, his 4th.
Marcos Germán had a big 2-run single for the Longnecks in the top of the fifth inning. With Bloomington leading 4-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Alejandro García and stroked the single to center. It was his 10th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Longnecks ahead, 6-3.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Bernard said. "We did a good job of that today."
Bloomington now sits in 9th place in the Premier AAA at 14-29.
