Pike Excels, But Belugas Win
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes got a superb performance from designated hitter James Pike. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Brinkley. The Belugas won the game, 12-8. In spite of the loss, Pike was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Brinkley has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
Brinkley used the clutch hitting of Weston Doyle to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Belugas the lead, 8-6. For the game, Doyle had 1 single and 1 double in 6 at-bats.
"I like the roll we're on," said Brinkley manager Ricardo Medina.
