Late Rally by Longnecks Secures Win
|
Brinkley got a terrific game from designated hitter John Clark. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Bloomington, 10-7. Clark was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Things have gone south in a hurry for the defending champion Longnecks, who notched only their 7th win in 18 games.
Henk van Aardschot hit a 2-run double off Esteban Ruíz in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Longnecks in front, 8-7. In addition to the double, van Aardschot had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," van Aardschot said.
