Bethesda got a strong outing from Sébastien Leroy as the Atoms defeated the Richland Rails, 3-2, at Rails Ballpark. Leroy got the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. Leroy allowed 1 earned run. Picking up the save was Dragutin Petrovic, his 16th.
Alan Hubbard put Bethesda in front, 3-1, when he hit a solo home run off Feltse van Horssen in the top of the fourth. It was his 2nd home run of the season.
Afterward, Atoms manager Raúl Méndez was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The first-place Atoms have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
