Evergreens Bump Off Grey Wolves, 9-2

The Portland Evergreens downed the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 9-2, at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Richello Mabait led the way, going 4-for-5 for Portland. Jorge Otero, the winner, improved to 10-4. He held the Grey Wolves to no earned runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Portland now sits in 4th place in the Premier League at 41-36.
Portland used the timely hitting of Willie McGirt to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Evergreens ahead, 6-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We came out aggressive," said Evergreens manager Brandon Slouck. "We came out swinging the bats."
