Whales Roll to 9-1 Win Over Rails
|
The Virginia Beach Whales picked up a win at Rails Ballpark, knocking off the Richland Rails, 9-1. Starting pitcher Bruno Mumford was an essential part of his team's success. The Whales saw their win-loss record go to 36-32. At the same time, the Rails fell to 31-37.
Virginia Beach needed the clutch hitting of Ron Lawrence to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Whales on top, 2-1. For the game, Lawrence had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Lawrence. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
