The Richland Rails got a stellar effort from pitcher Hirohisa Niiya, helping Richland score a 5-0 win over the visiting Asheville Highlanders. The Rails' win now puts them at 30-36.

Steve Pugh had a big 2-run single for the Rails in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Richland leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a slider from José Marín and stroked the single to right-center. It was his 47th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rails ahead, 4-0.

"Hirohisa's tempo and rhythm were good," said Rails manager Clarence Davis. "He was the key to us winning."
