Rails Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus Asheville
|
It was a good time at Rails Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Asheville Highlanders and Richland Rails get after it.
The Richland Rails defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 6-2, at Rails Ballpark today. Leading the charge for Richland was center fielder Yoichibei Chikafuji. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Gunner Hines got the win, improving to 3-5. He held the Highlanders to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 2.
Dublin, California-born Steve Pugh came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded and the Rails trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Richland on top.
"We had a nice day," said Richland skipper Clarence Davis.
The Rails now have a record of 29-36.
