Youth Down Rails, 9-7
|
It was a good time at Grenadiers Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Richland Rails and Phoenix Hotspur Youth get after it.
The Phoenix Hotspur Youth outlasted Falco Opsteegh and the Richland Rails, 9-7. Opsteegh was impressive in the loss. The Richland designated hitter was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The win was Derek Jones's in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Hiroaki Nakagawa took the loss for Richland.
The Youth got a big boost from first baseman Hal Larson who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the seventh inning off Rails hurler Hiroaki Nakagawa. It was his 15th RBI of the season and put Phoenix Hotspur on top, 8-7.
"A great game, a great day," said Larson about the win. "I can't complain."
Phoenix Hotspur is now 20-36, while Richland is 26-30.
