Ogres Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Last man standing. Which team would it be?
In a low-scoring clash between Olympia and Ottawa, pitcher José Alfaro was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Olympia in the 2-1 win. The winner was José Salinas in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jesús Lara took the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Wilson Sabadodíaz came to bat in the bottom of the 20th. Facing Ottawa pitcher Jesús Lara, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Olympia on top, 2-1.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Ottawa manager Fernando Gonzáles. "The effort was great."
The Ogres sit in 10th place in the Menard's AA with a record of 19-27.
