Ottawa pitcher Giddy Potts did his part in helping his team beat the Durham Rapiers, 8-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Luis Soto earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 2 earned runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. The Nationals saw their win-loss record go to 10-13. At the same time, the Rapiers fell to 15-8.

With Ottawa leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Potts hit a fastball from Archie Erickson for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 5-2.
