BC Edge Nationals, 2-1
|
The San Antonio BC picked up a win at Nationals Park, knocking off the Ottawa Nationals, 2-1. Starting pitcher José Lucero, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Lucero picked up the win for San Antonio, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Picking up the save was Curt Orser, his 3rd.
It could have been a different outcome for San Antonio, had it not been for Carlos Cardoza, the 27-year old left fielder . Cardoza contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put San Antonio up, 2-0.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Ottawa manager Fernando Gonzáles, "let me know."
The Nationals fall to 7-10 and continue to sputter in the early going.
