Nationals Score Late, Top Highlanders, 2-1
|
Ottawa rode a good effort from starter Jeff Arocha to beat the Asheville Highlanders at Nationals Park. The final score was 2-1. The win moves Ottawa to a record of 4-5.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, third baseman Cary Collins won it for Ottawa. With a runner on 1st, Collins hit a 2-0 fastball from José Marín for a run-scoring double, giving his team a 2-1 win.
"Jeff's tempo and rhythm were good," said Nationals manager Fernando Gonzáles. "He was the key to us winning."
