Ogres Win at San Antonio, 3-1
|
Olympia left-hander Carlos De La Garza pitched his team to victory over the San Antonio BC at San Antonio Field. The final score was 3-1. De La Garza went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Ramon Wuilink.
The BC had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Ogres going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old center fielder Tony Rincón came to the plate. Rincón hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch circle change from San Antonio hurler Sam White. It was Rincón's 3rd home run of the year.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Olympia manager Bob Thomas said.
With the loss, San Antonio drops to 6-3.
