Crane Delivers Walk-Off Win for Cattlemen
|
Fans who came to The Cattle Pen watched the Ft. Worth Cattlemen and the Kingston Township Knights fight to the finish.
Kingston Township got a terrific performance from pitcher Ray Goolsby, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ft. Worth Cattlemen. Ft. Worth won the The Cattle Pen contest, 6-5. Goolsby was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Bryan Tuff in relief. His record improves to 8-5. Anthony Ledesma took the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Vincent Crane came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Kingston Township pitcher Anthony Ledesma, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ft. Worth on top, 6-5.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Crane told the Ft. Worth Gazette.
The Knights, at 38-65, have lost 7 straight games.
