Hotspur Prevail, 8-6, Over Montana
|
Phoenix played host to Montana at the friendly confines of Chase Field.
Montana shortstop Alejandro Herrera had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Herrera was 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 5, even as Phoenix beat the Pandas, 8-6. Herrera was named the player of the game despite the loss. Roger Taylor sewed up the save, his 14th.
Tadayoshi Watanabe, who is tied for 7th in the 3L in hits with 123, chipped in for Phoenix with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We came out aggressive," said Hotspur manager Michael Esposito. "We came out swinging the bats."
The Hotspur sit in second place in the Third League with a record of 58-43.
