Cattlemen Come Back Late, Nip Shredders
|
The Cattlemen had to overcome a fine performance from Hollywood pitcher Eddie Kop to grab a 5-4 win at The Hollywood Bowl. Kop allowed 1 earned run over 6.1 innings. Ft. Worth reliever Bryan Tuff picked up the win, bumping his record to 6-5. An Jang-Yop was collared with the loss. Pedro Valdéz earned the save, his 22nd, for the Cattlemen.
Ft. Worth used a timely hit from Tony Romero to get the win. The second baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cattlemen on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson. "It's usually not just one thing."
Today's win puts Ft. Worth at 56-41, while Hollywood falls to 55-42.
