Dodgers Lose to Hotspur, 9-7
|
The Phoenix Hotspur knocked off the Brooklyn Dodgers, 9-7, at Chase Field. Harumi Takaki, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Phoenix won. The designated hitter went 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Leon von Stroheim, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 9-5. Roger Taylor got the save, the 10th for him this season.
Mare Riseley was vital part of the Phoenix win. He went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth with two out, Riseley hit a 2-run single. It made the score 8-5, in favor of the Hotspur.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Takaki told the Phoenix Herald.
Their 51-42 record puts the Hotspur 4th in the Third League.
