Ft. Worth got an elite performance from starting pitcher Armando Romano in taking a 5-1 decision over the Kingston Township Knights. Romano, the winner, moves to 11-5. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 2 walks. Pedro Valdéz got the save, the 20th for him this season.
Ft. Worth relied on the hitting of Tony Romero to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cattlemen on top, 5-1. For the game, Romero had 1 triple and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Romero, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Cattlemen sit in third place in the Third League with a record of 51-37.
