Cattlemen Need Extras to Top Lakers
|
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen had to overcome a big game from Echo Park first baseman Tomás Muinos to leave LA Forum with a 6-4 victory. Muinos went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Ft. Worth reliever Pedro Valdéz picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Corbin Holling was collared with the loss. Karl Dandleton got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Ft. Worth used the timely hitting of Askari bin Idris to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Cattlemen on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," bin Idris said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The win puts the Cattlemen at 50-37, while the Lakers drop to 42-45.
