Piranhas Drop Hotspur, 9-5
|
The Panama City Piranhas topped the Phoenix Hotspur, 9-5, with right fielder Murray Sperber playing a big role. Sperber went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Piranhas in the win. Panama City is now 38-46, while Phoenix is 45-39.
Sperber contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Panama City in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 5-4, Sperber took a circle change from Masahiro Sakei and stroked the home run to right. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Piranhas to leap in front, 6-5.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Sperber, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
