Hotspur Slip Past Echo Park, 11-10
|
Echo Park left fielder Orlando Montejo was sensational. He went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Phoenix beat the Lakers, 11-10. Montejo was named the player of the game despite the loss. Jorge Cruzan picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Jeffery Prosser was tagged with the loss. The Lakers, at 33-38, have lost 5 in a row.
Late in the game, shortstop Brit Davis had a big at-bat for Phoenix. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single off Jeffery Prosser. The play gave the Hotspur a 11-10 lead.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Davis.
