|
Alloway rode a decent outing from starter Mark Toope to victory over the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds at Dog Park in Ellenburg. The final score was 4-3. Toope, now 9-8, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Masaharu Sakata was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 9 save opportunities.
Alloway used the timely hitting of José Alcalá to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Halberds ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I was a little disappointed," said Ellenburg manager Justin Saginov. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The 8th-place Halberds improved to 42-60.
