Tritons Win at Alaskan, 7-5
|
The Jersey City Tritons grabbed a 7-5 win over the Alaskan Humpbacks at Sea World. Jersey City left fielder Carlos Rúbio went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Guldemunde Geilinger got the win, improving to 6-8. He pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 4. Kingston Liniak recorded his 21st save for Jersey City.
The outcome might have been different for Jersey City, had it not been for Tomás Valdéz, the 27-year old second baseman . Valdéz stroked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put Jersey City up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
