Lake Monsters Go Down to Defeat, 3-1
|
Sunset District Fog starter Wally Copeland was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-1. In 7.1 innings, Copeland surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Larry Strozier, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.
The Fog got a big at-bat from third baseman Wu-shiun Wang. For the game, Wang was 1-3, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 72nd hit of the season gave Sunset District a 2-1 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Sunset District skipper Kyle Myers.
Sunset District is now 46-49.
