6-2 Lake Monsters Win over Tritons Evens Season Record
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters picked up a win at Monster Field, knocking off the Jersey City Tritons, 6-2. Starting pitcher Manuel Delgadillo, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Delgadillo, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. The 5th-place Lake Monsters have won 4 in a row.
Tied up with the Tritons in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lake Monsters got a boost from center fielder Chrysler Rodriguez. With a runner on 2nd, Rodriguez saw a 3-1 fastball from Noe Toepfer and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Vermont on top, 2-1.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Vermont manager José Zamora. "Our pregame was pretty good."
