Ellenburg Wins, Koch 3-3
|
Steve Koch left his imprint on the 7-4 Ellenburg win against the Indianapolis Racers. Koch, who is tied for 6th in the SAAA in stolen bases with 15, went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Shawn Stevenson closed it out for his 9th save. Ellenburg, at 23-51, occupies last place in the Silver AAA.
The Racers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Fighting Dachsunds going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old catcher José Barroca came to the plate. Barroca hit a 2-run single on a 1-2 cutter from Indianapolis hurler Floyd Cala. It was Barroca's 13th hit of the year.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Indianapolis manager Rickey Jones. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
