Loss Extends Ellenburg Losing Streak
|
The Jersey City Tritons picked up a win at Dog Park in Ellenburg, knocking off the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 6-3. Starting pitcher Iwane Chihara, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Chihara, now 3-5, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 3 earned runs. The second-place Tritons have won 4 in a row.
The Tritons benefited from a costly error in the top of the sixth. With Manuel Ángel at bat and Jersey City leading 3-2, the Ellenburg miscue allowed Jersey City to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-2.
Ángel told a Jersey City Citizen reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
