Big Day by Roks Ignites Lake Monsters Win
The Vermont Lake Monsters knocked off the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 17-6, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Marcel Roks, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Vermont won. The first baseman went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Vermont reliever Javier Mejía picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Enrique Castillo absorbed the loss. The last-place Fighting Dachsunds have lost 4 straight games.

Vermont relied on the bat of José Medina to get the win. The third baseman ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lake Monsters ahead, 11-6. For the game, Medina had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Medina said.
