Bronze Sox Keep Streak Alive With 3-2 Win
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks got a sterling performance from pitcher Laurel Yanny, but the Bronze Sox still prevailed, 3-2. Yanny was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Texas reliever Emershan Naidoo picked up the win to move to 7-2. Gunnar Hoglund suffered the loss. The first-place Bronze Sox have won 14 straight.
Texas took a 3-2 lead on Gilberto Clemente's 10th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Clemente hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Alaskan pitcher Gunnar Hoglund shaking his head.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Texas manager Juan López.
