The Memphis Redbirds got a superb performance from pitcher Carlos Vargas. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Texas. The Bronze Sox won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Vargas was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Texas reliever Doug Freeth was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Enrique Mateo took the loss. The Bronze Sox, now 20-15, have won 6 in a row.

Texas used the timely hitting of Bren Spillane to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bronze Sox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"I like the roll we're on," said Texas manager Juan López.
