The Brinkley Belugas wasted an inspired, 8.1-inning effort from starter Lawrence Lane, falling 1-0 to the Calgary Lynx at Lynx Stadium. Calgary reliever Quan Shiu was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Shawn Williams took the loss for Brinkley. With the loss, Brinkley falls to 1-5.
Calgary won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Shawn Williams on the mound for Brinkley, pinch hitter Miguel Gazivoda hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Lynx fans to their feet.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Calgary manager Thomas Kemp.
