Loss to Rawhides Extends Lancaster Losing Streak
|
Belvedere Park turned a good effort from starter Giel Overwater into a win over the Lancaster Farmers at Field of the Rawhides. The final score was 6-2. In 5 innings, Overwater surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Ed Kreuze was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Ken Gill had a big run-scoring single for the Rawhides in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Belvedere Park leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Carlos González and stroked the single to left. It was his 115th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rawhides ahead, 3-1.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Overwater.
The Farmers, at 36-64, have lost 8 in a row.
