Ft. Polk South right-hander Ricardo Martínez pitched his team to victory over the Virginia Palladium Sox at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. The final score was 8-4. The third-place Thunder Hawks now have a 4-game winning streak.

Gregory Clement put Ft. Polk South in front, 4-3, when he took Kevin Maughan downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 12th home run of the season.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Martínez. "Successful pitchers do it."
