The Irving Blue Sox got a stellar effort from pitcher Jesús Cruz, helping Irving score a 8-2 win over the visiting Akron Blimps. The third-place Blue Sox have won 5 straight.

Seung-min Sin put Irving in front, 7-0, when he took Juan Vias downtown. His grand slam home run came with no one out in the bottom of the third. It was his 9th home run of the season.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Irving manager Bill Clark. "Our pregame was pretty good."
