Continentals Trip Farmers in Extras
|
The Chesapeake Continentals bested the Lancaster Farmers by a score of 8-5, with designated hitter Mark Sawyer getting the main credit. On the day, Sawyer was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Continentals. The winner was Jason Todd in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Cheung Wuying took the loss. Lancaster's current losing streak is now 4 games.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 12th, until Sawyer delivered big-time for Chesapeake, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Cheung Wuying. The game-changing hit put the Continentals on top, 6-5.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Sawyer said. "We did a good job of that today."
