Akron designated hitter Paul Bader played a vital role in his team's 12-4 triumph over Yakima. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Akron. The second-place Blimps improved to 59-36.

Akron took a 5-4 lead on Lauren Hilfiker's 126th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Hilfiker hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Yakima pitcher Ramón Serrano shaking his head.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Hilfiker.
