Multi-HR Day for Hernández as Hops Overpower Blimps, 8-7
|
A 4-RBI performance from shortstop Tony Hernández led the Yakima Hops to a 8-7 win over the Akron Blimps. The win was credited to James McNeil in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Kieran Long took the loss. With the win, Yakima has a record of 49-45. Akron falls to 58-36.
Yakima used the timely hitting of Lee Scrooby to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hops on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Hernández said (again).
