Farmers Fall Short, 3-2, at Marquette
|
The Lancaster Farmers got a superb performance from pitcher Billy Threepwood, but the Marquette Miners still won the game, 3-2. Threepwood was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Marquette reliever Jorge Vega picked up the win to move to 3-2. Billy Threepwood suffered the loss. Jude Cordingley notched his 5th save in 6 chances.
Had Álex Maroto not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Maroto hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Miners.
"We found a way to get it done," Maroto said.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Marquette.
