Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Jeromy Gride, the Yakima Hops defeated the Akron Blimps, 6-2. Gride was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Hops. The winner was Jeff Seawright, who threw 84 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 4 hits. The win puts the Hops at 37-37, while the Blimps drop to 49-25.

The Hops got a lift from third baseman George Hubbard who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fifth inning off Gao Mar. It was his 21st RBI of the season and put Yakima in front, 2-1.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Gride told the Yakima Bulletin. "Whatever it takes."
