Shuckers Get Close Win Over Miners
|
The Marquette Miners got a sterling performance from pitcher Justin Clapham, but the Shuckers still prevailed, 4-2. Clapham was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Biloxi reliever I-tsing Ts'ong picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Justin Clapham shouldered the loss. António Moreno notched his 19th save in 22 chances.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Johnny Young came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Marquette pitcher Riley Evans, he hit a 1-2 slider for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Biloxi on top, 4-2.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Young said after the game.
Biloxi is 7th in the Silver AA with a record of 34-37.
