Miners Get Past Belvedere Park for 5-4 Win
|
The Miners had to overcome a good performance from Belvedere Park pitcher Will David to claim a 5-4 win at Marquette Stadium. David went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The winner was Joaquin Farias in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Hyung-ki Kim took the loss. Marquette is 22-29 and Belvedere Park, with the loss, 26-25.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 4-4, shortstop Chet Clifton won it for Marquette. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Clifton hit a 1-0 fastball from Hyung-ki Kim for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 5-4 win.
"We found a way to get it done," Clifton said.
