Rawhides Slip Past Marquette, 4-3
|
The Rawhides had to overcome a fine effort from Marquette pitcher Johnny Eliot to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Marquette Stadium. Eliot went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Reliever Ivano Carbonetti picked up the win. His record improves to 1-3. César Sandoval took the loss. Ron Pomar recorded his 3rd save for Belvedere Park.
Belvedere Park used the timely hitting of Ken Gill to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rawhides on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Gill told the Belvedere Park Times.
Belvedere Park is now 26-24. Marquette is 21-29.
