Blimps Raise Rally Flag, Beat Belvedere Park, 8-6
|
The Belvedere Park Rawhides and Akron Blimps were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Field of the Rawhides.
Roy Burns made an impact in the 8-6 Akron win over Belvedere Park. Burns, who is tied for 10th in the SAA in hits with 47, was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI. Akron reliever Kieran Long picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Joe Fisher shouldered the loss. Eddo Mud earned the save for Akron, his 8th.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Burns delivered big-time for Akron, stroking a dramatic 2-run triple off Joe Fisher. The game-changing hit put the Blimps on top, 8-6.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Burns told the Akron Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The Blimps, now 25-14, have won 5 in a row.
